Ever had those recurring data issues? They could be symptoms, that something isn´t right in your Data Ecosystem:

  • The same missing, duplicated or inaccurate data issues keep returning.

  • Issues are “fixed” but reappear in the next cycle.

  • Teams spend time correcting outputs rather than preventing recurrence.

  • Data Quality tickets are closed without confidence that the cause is gone.

  • Manual checking and reconciliation have become normal.

These symptoms often mask the underlying causes which need to be looked at and resolved!

The business impact!

All recurring issues will have an impact on the business, some you may see, others not! Here´s some of the impacts you could be suffering:

  • Repeated rework and wasted effort.

  • Reduced confidence in reports and decisions.

  • Higher operational cost.

  • Risk of customer, financial or regulatory impact.

  • Teams become frustrated because they are fixing the same thing repeatedly.

  • Workarounds can hide the seriousness of the underlying problem.

Any impacts need to be fully understood and managed, without that you keep the risk!

What the reality check gives you!

The Data Ecosystem Reality Check helps you to understand:

  • Whether you are fixing symptoms or causes.

  • Whether root-cause analysis is strong enough.

  • Whether ownership for remediation is clear.

  • Where manual fixes may be masking recurrence.

  • Whether issues are being closed too early.

  • How well recurrence is being monitored.

These elements help you to discover just whats happening with these data issues!

Here´s what you get:

This what you will get:

  • A focused Recurring Data Quality Diagnostic Profile.

  • Identification of your likely issue pattern.

  • Key warning signs to investigate.

  • Three practical priorities.

  • A 30-day action focus.

  • The Follow One Problem worksheet to trace one issue in more depth.

Who is this for?

This for those that:

  • Data Governance Managers or Heads of Data who keep seeing the same issues return.

  • Data Quality Leads dealing with repeated defects, exceptions or remediation cycles.

  • Data Owners and Data Stewards who know there is a problem but are not sure why it keeps coming back.

  • Reporting or MI teams that have to manually correct outputs before they can be trusted.

  • Risk, Compliance or Operations teams dealing with recurring data-related control issues.

  • Transformation or Change Leads who suspect poor data foundations are slowing progress.

  • Business Leaders frustrated by repeated manual fixes, inconsistent figures or unclear accountability.

  • Organisations where workarounds have become part of normal day-to-day operations.

  • Teams that have already tried to fix the issue more than once without making it disappear.

This is not for you if you´re looking for an architecture review, looking for a new tool, needing to complete a complete enterprise wide re-design, in need of a quick technical fix or expecting this to replace full remediation work.

If you keep seeing the same problem, the Reality Check is designed to help you understand what is keeping it alive, not just how to fix it again.

About me

I have been around the data business for 40 years, one of the biggest issues I see is  organisations not understanding  why their data problems keep coming back! By looking beyond the data itself into the people, processes, ownership and behaviours that surround it, I provide insight into the probable causes.

My approach combines decades of experience across change, data, technology, coaching and organisational behaviour.

I focus on making Data Governance practical, getting organisations off data Governance on paper to Data Governance that changes how people work, is embedded and brings the clarity and definition that organisations need to build trust and confidence.
